Draft mode
Draft mode lets you check a Seedance 2.5 idea with a quick, low-resolution video before you spend on the full-quality one.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”- A draft run renders a 480p preview.
- You review it.
- A final run takes the draft and renders the high-quality video. The final keeps the draft’s scene and motion.
The final reuses the draft’s prompt, references, duration, aspect ratio, seed and audio setting. It renders at 1080p for Seedance 2.5 and at 4K for Seedance 2.5 Premium.
Run a draft and a final
Section titled “Run a draft and a final”- Add a Seedance 2.5 node: Text to Video, First-Last-Frame to Video or Reference to Video.
- Set
modelto Seedance 2.5 Draft (or Seedance 2.5 Premium Draft). - Set the node’s seed control to fixed.
- Run. Watch the 480p video.
- Connect the
draft_task_idoutput to Seedance 2.5 Draft to Final Video, connect Save Video, and run again.
Draft to Final reads the model from the draft
Section titled “Draft to Final reads the model from the draft”The final node has no model input. It looks up the draft task at BytePlus and reads the model from it, so a Seedance 2.5 draft gets a 1080p final and a Seedance 2.5 Premium draft gets a 4K final. Drafts from different models cannot go into the same node. Use one Draft to Final node for each model.
The draft_task_id output
Section titled “The draft_task_id output”- Only the two Draft models produce a
draft_task_id. If you connect that output while another model is selected, the node tells you to pick a Draft model or disconnect it. - With
generation_countabove 1, you get one ID per line. - You can also paste draft task IDs into the Draft to Final node, one per line, to render a draft from an earlier session.
- A draft can be rendered for 7 days after it was created. Older drafts are refused.
- The draft must have succeeded first. A failed or unfinished draft cannot be rendered.
A draft is a billed task, and the final is a second billed task. The draft shows whether the idea works before you pay for the full-quality render. See Billing and cost.
Try it
Section titled “Try it”The Seedance 2 template has a group that renders the draft first. Review it, then enable the Draft to Final group.
